Buterin Unveils the Truth About His Recent Ethereum Transfers

In a recent post on the decentralized social network, Warp Cast, Vitalik Buterin, the Russian-Canadian computer programmer and Ethereum’s founder, revealed the actual purpose behind the recent Ethereum transfers made from his wallet address.

Buterin elucidated that the substantial Ethereum transactions executed from his wallet weren’t actually sold by him. He emphasized his primary focus over the years has been donating large amounts of Ethereum to charities and other projects, not personal profit. He asserted that he hasn’t sold Ethereum for personal gain since 2018.

Buterin’s Philanthropic Endeavors

Buterin is renowned for his charitable contributions towards various organizations and medical causes. In 2021, he made headlines by donating $1 billion worth of SHIB tokens to a COVID-19 relief fund in India. Furthermore, in February 2023, he donated $150,000 to Anka Relief to support a crypto aid project in Türkiye following recent earthquakes.

A Cointelegraph report clarified the details behind this sizable transaction. According to an Ethereum Foundation Spokesperson, the $15 million USDC transfer was made under Buterin’s Ethereum Name Service (ENS), not from his personal wallet.
