Unraveling the mystery behind the massive transfer of 10 million CHZ from Chiliz to Binance, it has been revealed that it was a Chiliz investment grant. This significant transaction, which occurred last month, was executed from Chiliz’s multi-signature wallet, with a value exceeding half a million dollars. The recent transaction involving 10 million CHZ tokens moving from Chiliz to Binance has been recognized as a Chiliz investment grant by the Web3 startup Chiliz. This transaction caused a wave of concern within the cryptocurrency community, primarily because the initial transfer originated from Chiliz’s multi-signature wallet.
Popular crypto influencer, Playmaker, took to X (previously known as Twitter) to update a previous post reporting a 17 million CHZ ($1 million) outflow from Chiliz’s multi-sig last month. Out of these, 10 million CHZ were dispatched to Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange. The remaining 7 million CHZ are still retained in the wallet.
Clarification from Chiliz’s CEO
Reacting to Playmaker’s posts, Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Chiliz, elucidated that the transaction was part of a grant from the crypto project. The beneficiaries of this grant are anticipated to sell the received CHZ to cover salaries and finance other operations.
Playmaker suggested that these CHZ grants might not be beneficial in the short term as they could potentially increase selling pressure. Playmaker also mentioned that the Chiliz wallet that initiated the grant currently holds $50 million, including CHZ and JUMP.
Future Expectations and Concerns
The influencer hinted that the Web3 project might announce more grants in the future, leading to a similar outflow of tokens. However, this would likely result in increased selling pressure due to the additional CHZ circulation.
Chiliz’s questionable transfers first came into the spotlight on August 30, when the Web3 project’s multi-sig wallet transferred 250 million CHZ worth $15 million to another address. This transaction happened just two days after Chiliz transferred 25 million CHZ to Wintermute, a crypto trading firm and market maker, which had previously received 65 million CHZ from Chiliz.
