Are you among the multitude of XRP holders anxiously awaiting the promised Evernode airdrop? If so, it’s time to sit up and take note as we delve into the details of how you can stake your claim on this much-anticipated event. Evernode, a Layer 2 network with the ambitious goal of introducing smart contracts via Hooks to the XRP Ledger, has recently unveiled the first key details of its airdrop for XRP holders.
Evernode’s Journey Toward Launch
Earlier this year, Evernode sparked excitement in the crypto community with the announcement of its forthcoming launch. In a strategic move toward achieving this goal, the beta version of Evernode was re-introduced on the Hooks V3 testnet in April. The network subsequently hinted at a potential audit of the Hooks V3 testnet in mid-August, indicating that its launch plans were steadily taking shape.
Details of the Airdrop
Evernode has now shared the initial specifics of its airdrop for XRP holders. As per the Evernode whitepaper, a substantial amount of Evers, the protocol’s proposed native currency, will be set aside for an airdrop to XRP holders following the protocol’s launch. The date for the XRPL snapshot has been set for Friday, Sept. 1, at 6:00 p.m. AEST. Evernode explains that this early snapshot is necessary due to its impending launch on the Hooks sidechain, which will feature a burn2mint and will necessitate a snapshot of the XRP Ledger prior to the sidechain going live.
Claiming Your Share of the Airdrop
So, how can XRP holders claim their share of the airdrop? Evernode plans to airdrop a whopping 5,160,960 Evers to eligible XRP holders. This airdrop will occur in two phases: initially, a snapshot of XRP holdings on the mainnet will be taken on Sept. 1 at 6:00 p.m. AEST. This will be followed by an airdrop to eligible accounts on the Hooks sidechain, based on the amount of XRP held on the mainnet. To be eligible for the airdrop, XRP holders must have their XRP stored directly on-chain, not via an exchange. This is due to the potential requirement to clone their account on the Hooks sidechain to claim the airdrop.
