What are the implications of Ethereum co-founder and ICO participant Vitalik Buterin‘s activities on the cryptocurrency’s movement? This article delves into the recent on-chain data, highlighting the transactions of old digital currencies, including those associated with Buterin and other participants from Ethereum’s initial coin offering (ICO) in 2014.

Buterin’s Ethereum Transactions

On-chain data from the Ethereum network explorer, Etherscan, reveals a recent deposit of 600 Ethereum (approximately $1 million) by Buterin to Coinbase. This transfer, confirmed by on-chain analytics firm Nansen, represents a mere 0.01% of Ethereum’s daily average trading volumes over the last 30 days, which stands at $6.3 billion according to CoinGecko data.

Further analysis shows that since the beginning of the year, Buterin has moved roughly $3.6 million in ETH to various exchanges including Kraken, Gemini, and Coinbase. The latest transfer to Coinbase brings the total amount Buterin has transferred to the exchange to $4.6 million.

ICO Participant’s Ethereum Movements

Another intriguing movement in the Ethereum landscape involves an Ethereum address that purchased ETH during the 2014 ICO. This address recently moved 191 ETH (around $320,000) to a different address. It is important to note that this address is unlikely to be associated with Buterin, according to analysts.

Post-transaction, this ICO participant’s address proceeded to purchase Unitbot (UNIBOT) and ApeCoin (APE) tokens. This address also transferred a portion of ETH to the HitBTC exchange and bought several UNIBOT and APE tokens. The remaining ETH is currently held in another account.

Ethereum’s ICO and Its Aftermath

Ethereum’s ICO, conducted by the Ethereum Foundation between July 22 and September 4, 2014, successfully raised $18.3 million for 60 million ETH, at $0.305 per coin. Following the ICO, there have been notable instances of large transfers, such as an ICO whale address moving $116 million worth of ETH to Kraken and another Ethereum whale transferring 4,032 ETH (valued at $7.4 million) to the proof-of-stake contract.

As these movements continue to shape the Ethereum landscape, it’s crucial for investors and enthusiasts to stay updated with the latest developments. A great way to do this is through platforms like cryptoview.io, which offer comprehensive crypto news and updates.
