Typically, the value of NFTs lies in their tradability. However, these Grimace NFTs, created in collaboration with Bandwagon Labs and local NFT artist, The Hidden Walls, are non-tradable. They are minted as ‘soulbound’ tokens on the Ethereum mainnet, meaning they can’t be transferred from the initial minting wallet. This ensures there will be no secondary sales, making these NFTs a keepsake for the fast-food chain’s customers.

According to McDonald’s, the owners of these NFTs will be privy to exclusive future benefits. The process to claim these tokens involves connecting a wallet to the Ethereum mainnet, as shown in a tutorial video shared by McDonald’s.
